Rule of thirds

The rule of thirds is a rule that most photographers use.  This states that there should be two equally spaces horizontal and vertical lines.  By doing this you make sure that the horizon doesn't take up more than half of the page.  By doing this it will help keep the proportion of the picture even.  This is also used in other types of art, not just the horizon, but it also includes people and other things.  It is also to make sure that there isn't just something in the middle of the picture, to keep it even.  The best focal points should be at the intersection of one of these lines, with secondary focus on the lines alone.

Leading lines are any line that leads the eye to a different place.  This can be a line that leads you into a different spot in the picture, or even out of the picture.  Anything with a definite line can be a leading line, this includes many things like a fence, train tracks, a road anything that leads your eyes somewhere else.

Composition is the placement of visual items in a art peace.  It is normally known as the organization of elements in a work of art.   These can be many different things, and described in many ways also.

Illusion of Space

Illusion of space is the way that we look at things, how things seem to be closer and also farther away.  Making an object larger also makes it appear closer, and when an objet is smaller it appears to be farther away.   When an object overlaps another object it makes the object behind it further away by showing that it is behind the other object.  Another way to show Illusion of space is to use color contrasts to show depth.  When doing this you have sharp colors for the objects that appear close, and lighter less distinct colors for the objects that are far away, so they almost blend into the background.

Converging lines is another way to show Illusion of space.  This is where all the lines seem to end at the same point, making the lines larger at the front of the page and gradually getting smaller the farther that they go.

You can also show Illusion of space by a Two-point perspective.  This is what architects so which creates a more 3 dimensional look too a building.  they do this by taking the picture from the side, on the corner of a building, and not just from the front.

Art I like......

Mordecai Ardon is an artist that i would like to make art like.  I love how he is very absract about things.  I also like that he does very drastic shadings.  You almost have to re look at the picture to understand what it is, that why i like it so much.
Things that i would like to learn to do like him is to use such vararions of colors that pop out from the dark.  I would also like to try and do the shading how he does.  Lastly I  would like to learn how to make things less real but a vision in you own mind.  Thats why I like his art.

The Joker

The Joker is my favorite piece because i think that it looks very real, and is shaded very well.  I worked very hard on it and it was my first human piece!  Which i am very proud of.  I excelled in draw "what i see" because it looks very much like the picture, and i got the best on that one.
